Admission

Enrollment Policy

Morningstar Montessori House of Children is open to children 3 to 6 years of age, who are toilet trained. Each child is considered individually and admission depends largely on emotional readiness, as determined by the Directress.

The Morningstar Montessori House of Children admits children of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to children at the school. Morningstar aims to have a "World in Miniature" in its children's house.

Enrollment for the new school year has begun. If you are considering Morningstar Montessori for your child, please schedule a visit to the school to observe the classroom. If after observation you would like to proceed, we will provide you with the next steps in the admissions process at that time.

The maximum number of students enrolled at one time is 50. Interested families that are not able to enroll may request to be added to the Waiting List. If positions become available, students will be selected in order assigned to the list.

Classroom Observation

Morningstar Montessori House of Children is pleased to offer the opportunity to visit the classroom to all interested persons. Due to heavy demand, we ask that the following general rules are observed to avoid interference with the work of our children:

  • Make arrangements to observe the classroom with the Directress at least one week in advance.
  • Avoid distracting the children from their work through direct interaction, conversation with them or the Directress, or by wandering around the room.
  • Plan your visit with only adult observers and the child who may be attending. Babysitting is not available for other siblings.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Montessori method and classroom in advance.
  • Click here for recommended reading.

Parents interested in enrolling children are expected to observe in the classroom. If they then decide to choose the Montessori approach, they are given a Registration Form. After the Registration Form is completed and returned with the Registration Fee, an interview is arranged with the child and the parents. In the case of late admission or children on the waiting list, the interview is conducted at the time that the opening occurs.
